Hackathon Overview
Developers, bring your laptops, development tools, devices (and enough energy to code for nearly 24 hours straight) to Tech in the Middle 2010 and participate in the Hackathoncontest! Developers will work alone or in teams to build applications that target any one of the mobile and/or cloud platforms, present their applications to the attendees, and compete for prizes in several categories.

7:00 pm: Hackathon Kickoff Party & Hackathon All-Nighter - ITA TechNexus, 200 South Wacker Drive, 15th Floor
Saturday, September 11th
2:00pm Entry Deadline. Coding is complete. All entries for the Hackathon Show must be submitted to judges -- open sourced projects must have publicly available source code visible at this time and a URL provided to the event managers/judges.
3:00 The Hackathon Presentations
4:00 Break. Hackathon judges confer.

Rules
- All Hackathon applications must be registered for the Hackathon by going to http://www.hackathonia.com/events/tech-in-the-middle-2010 and creating a team.
- Entry applications may not be under development prior to the Hackathon kickoff party. Code libraries and APIs used to construct the solutions are acceptable, but project- specific logic must be created on-site.
- Entries may only win in one category.
- If a category receives no qualifying entries, that category becomes 1st (or 2nd or 3rd) runner-up to the Best Overall category.
- All Hackathon participants MUST be registered for the event.
- The development tools, frameworks or application focus is entirely up to the participants.
- Participants are expected to bring all the tools and software they will need to build their entry. The organizers will try to provide enough power strips, but you might bring your own to be on the safe side.
- Rules are subject to change at the discretion of the coordinator.

Is there someone I can contact to get more information?
ANSWER: Yes, send an email to support@hackathonia.com
Do I have to be on a team to participate?
ANSWER: You must establish a team at Hackathonia in order to participate, however that team can consist of only you if you'd prefer to work alone.
I would like to form a team, but don't know anyone else at the camp. Will you help people connect?
ANSWER: Hackathonia.com allows people to apply for a spot on teams that are accepting new members.
Can we start the application prior to the event?
ANSWER: No. In the spirit of competition, the applications should be constructed during the event. See the rules section above concerning pre-built applications.
Does anyone get to see the source code for the app we are going to build?
ANSWER: Your source code is only made public or seen by others if you opt to compete in the open source category. Other than this case, the developer(s) can share as much about the application as they wish.
